Description
Guided by Dowry Square residents, the history tours will cover the relationship between Dowry Square and the Hotwell Spa, the many historic properties & some of their inhabitants, the changes to the local area over the last 300 years and include a visit inside two of Dowry Square’s historic houses – the former Pneumatic Institution, where Thomas Beddoes with its superintendent Humphry Davy had fun with nitrous oxide and No. 12, where William Pennington, the Master of Ceremonies at the Hotwell Spa, lived in the 18th century.
The tours start and finish in the Dowry Square garden, and include a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of cake from Dowry Square’s many home bakers!
